Blair crony takes the helm at Ofcom

Tony Blair's former media and communications advisor - and drafter of the Communciations Act which created Ofcom - has become the new CEO of the regulator today. Ed Richards, who has also worked for Gordon Brown was already the COO, and has now taken the helm of the super-quango, subject to approval by the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry and the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport.

Must be tense for Richards waiting to see if he receives approval: how does he live with the uncertainty?
