100 Policies: MMR

This morning's 100policies over at ConservativeHome has been submitted by Karen Bradley and argues that there should be single measles, mumps and rubella available through the NHS. According to the policy this is about tackling the problem of lost confidence in MMR.

Personally I think it' an appalling policy idea. It is essentially pandering to the flat-earthers out there that still inists on beleiving that long discredited research is still valid. Dressing the issue up around the argument of choice is also disingenuous because what we'd actually be doing is giving legitimacy to the discredited position.

No vaccine can be 100% "safe", but the MMR has been around for at least 30 years across the globe. If people inists on having single shots then they should accept they have to pay for it themselves. The level of risk with each of them remains largely the same anyway.
