Government fires people by Intranet

Apparently, nearly 300 Government back office workers at HM Revenue and Customs found out they were losing their jobs via the internal Intranet. They were mostly clerical staff hired to try and sort out the fiasco at the tax credit system in an office in Washington, Tyne and Wear. The department decided to close the office and chose to give out the news to it's 90,000+ staff via an intranet announcement.
